PRESS RELEASE

WAPDA GET FIRST SUCCESS   IN  NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP


      LAHORE,MARCH 26, 2011
Defending champion WAPDA fashioned out their first  victory in the
46th  National Men's volleyball championship  evaporating a weaker
challenge from AJK in straight sets 25-13,25-14,25-10 here on Saturday
at Wapda Sports Complex.

       WAPDA took another step forward for retaining the title on the
second day when four matches were decided and all the top teams
including Navy, PAF, Punjab and Police made their way ahead.

      Matches for tomorrow, KP vs NAVY, RAILWAYS VS WAPDA, PUNJAB VS
ARMY, POLICE VS PAF and Sindh vs Balochistan.

      Wapda were the all time leaders against lowly rated AJK which
failed to match the speed and agility of their fast moving opponents.

     WAPDA maintained strong hold through Aimal Kahn, Farooq Khan,
Mohib Rasool and Muhammad Imran. Ever struggling AJK which mainly
lacked in stamina and technique.

     PAF routed Higher Education Commission in straight sets,
25-17,25-19,25-16. PAF Spikers   demonstrated brilliance and
coordination to outwit HEC which offered maximum resistance in the
opening set by coming closer on points but failed to equalise.
Muhammad Saqib moon and Ismail khan played key role in PAF success.

Army overcome Sindh in a simple manner 25-15-25-6-25-6, exhibiting
quick moves and powerful serve game.

          Navy overpowered FATA in a one sided affair
25-09,25-9,25-13. NAVY were in total control throughout the match as
they made collective efforts.Wasit Ali and Syed Shuja Abbas worked
hard from Navy.

   Punjab beat Balochistan 3-0 25-19, 25-14, 25-15
