Rowdyism by opposition in Punjab Assembly against norms of democracy: Khosa

LAHORE: Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that rowdyism by opposition in Punjab Assembly is lamentable and against the norms of democracy.

According to handout issued here on Saturday, he said that Pakistan Peoples Party and Q League should play a positive role as opposition and refrain from negative and undemocratic tactics in the Assembly.

Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that Punjab Assembly is the custodian of superior democratic values and traditions which Pakistan Muslim League (N) will not allow any one to violate.

He said that PPP did its best to follow Lotacracy during Governor’s rule but after failing in its efforts again joined the government.

He said that undemocratic attitude of PPP during Governor’s rule was totally against democratic principles and by their unruly behavior in the Punjab Assembly, PPP and Q-League have proved that they do not have a democratic temperament.

He said that difference of opinion in the essence of democracy and the role of opposition is very important. He said that democracy survives only if opposition points out the shortcomings of the government and exercise the right of positive criticism is a democratic manner.

He said that rowdyism in Punjab Assembly is a proof of the fact that PPP and Q League are bereft of political and democratic values and it has learnt no lesson from the illegal and unconstitutional step of Governor’s rule.
